    Woodbourne Edgbaston

    The largest and most expensive residential dwelling in Birmingham in the last hundred years. This luxurious home in the affluent suburb of Edgbaston, provides extensive accommodation consisting of four floors in two acres of landscaped gardens. The black and white lime stoned entrance hallway is finished with an 11 metre high, three storey atrium with pyramidal glass lantern light supporting hand crafted crystal glass Venetian chandeliers. Innovative design solutions allowed natural light to penetrate the extensive basement leisure suite.

    The Grange, Shropshire

    A Queen Anne grade II listed building, required a sensitive renovation and restoration with the clients specific aims in mind to introduce an aspirational interior to contrast with its traditional exterior.

    The house had many unique features including the secondary staircase, reputedly haunted, that was sensitively refurbished and highlighted. Many of these unique characteristics were accentuated and given a modern twist.

    Brindley Place, Birmingham

    A complex amalgamation of two apartments vertically linked to create a contemporary open living space of over 3000sqft with stunning views across the city centre. The spatial layout and design was influenced by the collection of art and artifacts in its owners’ private collection, culminating in a fluid and functional design This remains one of Birmingham’s most exclusive apartments, and currently one of its largest.

    Harbourne Drive Edgbaston

    This is a current project involving three large properties accessed by a private drive in Edgbaston. Each residence will be completely bespoke in design with extensive facilities including seven bedrooms with en suite, alongside a pool, gymnasium, cellarage and staff accommodation.

    Each home will incorporate state of the art security, these controls will be carefully integrated into the finished design.

    Town House Warwick

    A four-storey Grade-I listed residence in the historic centre of Warwick, with a distinguished history. This project presented a challenging restoration. The clientʼs desire was to restore the house to its former glory, and desired to incorporate some contemporary features to reflect his lifestyle.

    Hackett & James created a synergy of the past with some modernistic designs to provide a seamless home. The vision for the master bedroom; an ambient self contained space, involving a private staircase with informal reception ,a concealed kitchenette, bathroom and study as well as a glorious roof terrace with seating and garden; overlooking wonderful views of the town.

    Country Estate, Warwickshire

    100 acres of prime real estate on the edge of Henley in Arden. The primary residence comprises 20,000 ftsq of dwelling space and outbuildings, approached via a gatehouse and surrounded by landscaped parkland. This private commission also includes the renovation of existing early Victorian barns, with a new build aspect, to create an exclusive private estate. This property exemplifies tradition with contemporary living.

    The Manor, Warwickshire

    This impressive Warwickshire residence will be completed to an impeccably high specification. Located between the popular villages of Ullenhall and Mappleborough Green, the residence is in easy access of Birmingham and the Cotswolds. The Manor is an imposing period property with over 10,230sqft and sits in glorious rural countryside with panoramic views of its 4.5 acres of landscaped gardens, pastureland and paddocks.

    A Warwickshire home set in 50 acres of landscaped parkland with its own lake. Accessed via a long gravelled drive of over a mile. With tennis court and paddock adjacent to the house, the home benefits from ancillary buildings around its private courtyard.

    Woodbourne House, Edgbaston

    One of the finest private residences in the West Midlands. This private client desired a complete update of the home and its existing features through extensive remodelling and modernisation. The desire: to transform the way in which the house was used, and to reflect a change in lifestyle. So much of the house was under used and this extensive restoration and refurbishment created an integrated and fluid modern living environment. The result culminated in a dynamic expansion of the home from a 7,000 sqft to a 14,000 sqft dwelling with separate staff accommodation.

    Astbury Hall, Shropshire

    A magnificent Georgian property surrounded by 380 acres of rolling Shropshire countryside and its own commercial 27 hole championship golf course. The H&J commercial team worked closely with the client to come up with a series of comprehensive master plans to expand the facilities. These included the club house, gatehouse, subterranean michelin restaurant, exclusive hotel and luxury spa in order to maximise value for the client.

    The Cottage, Stratford Upon Avon

    A grade 11 listed restoration, conversion and extension, incorporating 14th century and 19th century architecture in three wings with separate ancillary living accommodation block and garaging. Balancing the client’s vision, we worked closely with the local authority conservation team, English Heritage, ecology advisors and restoration experts to deliver to required standards and beyond. The Cottage being the focal point of the community, we were also sensitive not to interrupt the flow of village life. The final outcome resulted in the amalgamation of period features, which blended together to create a truly unique and impacting home.

    The Hollies, Leamington Spa

    A sophisticated and elegant remodelling of an elegant Georgian gentleman’s residence. The design involved the connectivity of the main residence with that of a second property in order to form one significant home. This reconfiguration gave the space fluidity and form as the area became one with multi dimensional facets. The sumptuous interior design perfectly married both traditional and contemporary styles to dramatic effect.

    Briar’s Lodge, Shipston on Stour

    Briarʼs Cottage, a period property, in this quaint little hamlet of Stratford on Avon, surrounded by stunning countryside and picturesque panoramas that appear like scenes from Constableʼs masterpieces. This cottage is quintessentially English, and therefore our restoration and refurbishment needed to respect its heritage and character. We blended the contemporary with the traditional to deliver the clientʼs lifestyle needs and create a beautiful luxury residence imbued with old world charm and the convenience of modern living.

    Private Apartment, Marbella (Spain)

    Hackett & James’ first venture in Europe; the interior design and fit out of a frontline luxury penthouse in Marbella. The client’s brief was to redesign the space to create an elegant retreat. The simplicity of this new look and feel is enhanced by the backdrop of beautiful landscaped gardens and views overlooking the Mediterranean sea.

    Westfield Road, Edgbaston

    The proposed dwelling will sit well within this existing street. The elevations will represent a contemporary interpretation of the period design, retaining the surrounding landscape. This dwelling will be an attractive contribution to the street. Despite the more period look to this design, the basement level will include many current details including a swimming pool, cinema room, games room or gym and support facilities, which is a perfect attribute to today’s modern living.

    Beautifully proportioned and symmetrical rural residence classically inspired with contemporary country influenced living solution. The design has been engineered by Hackett and James with the client’s requirements at the forefront in forming the brief. The design has been sympathetic to the neighbouring properties without compromising the vista and lakeside setting, a truly stunning setting for this private home.
